The Hive
Small studio. Big laser.
BusyBeem is a husband-and-wife laser engraving studio. We design it, fire it, finish it, and ship it — all ourselves, one piece at a time.
How it started
Started with a laser
and a lot of curiosity.
BusyBeem is run by two people — a husband and wife who both had way too many ideas and finally had the tools to act on them. The technical side (design files, laser settings, running the machine) lives with one of us. The finishing side (sanding, staining, painting, making sure it actually looks good) lives with the other. Between us, every order gets handled start to finish.
What started as gifts for friends and family turned into a real shop — built around one belief: custom, handmade things shouldn't feel mass-produced. Every piece that leaves here was touched by both of us.
What we stand for.
Made by hand
No batch queues, no outsourcing. One of us designs and runs the laser, the other handles finishing — sanding, staining, painting. Every order passes through both pairs of hands.
Proof before fire
You always see a digital proof before we touch the laser. No surprises, no guessing. You sign off, we engrave.
Real communication
You're talking directly to the person making your thing — not a support queue. Questions get real answers, fast.
Packed with intention
Every order ships wrapped in our signature hex-stamped tissue. Because the unboxing is part of the gift.
The setup
Meet the Beem.
We run an xTool D1 10W diode laser — precise, reliable, and well-suited for the materials we work with. Wood, leather, and slate burn directly for rich natural contrast. Glass, stainless steel, anodized aluminum, and ceramic use a marking process that frosts to a clean white. It's not a factory machine. It's a studio machine — more control, more care per piece.
We're not set up for giant production runs — and that's on purpose. Small studio means every order gets the full setup, not the fast lane.
